James conducted the funeral service for my dad at Colwyn Bay crematorium.  From our first initial contact myself and my mum knew that he was the perfect person to put our thoughts and feelings into words. 

We were not rushed at any point and he spent so much time on the phone speaking to us about my dad's life and he created a service in such a way that was so personal, it was like he had known my dad for years. 

Everybody that attended that day have said how lovely the service was.  It was exactly how my dad would have wanted it and how we needed it as our goodbye.

Dear James,

Thank you for conducting Flo's funeral at St Asaph Memorial Park on Friday.

When you and I first spoke, I was already impressed with your patient manner while I shared some very personal information about Flo.  All the arrangements had to be made over the telephone and were particularly time consuming owing to the covid-19 pandemic.

The use of the web link at the crematorium was an asset enabling family and friends to follow the service, and even view footage within days.  Everyone who used that facility were impressed with the content of the service.

In actual fact, people were asking me 'who was the lovely man who did the service'...'the man who did the service was superb'.... 'he was wonderful' ...'where is he from' ...' how did you find him'?

I know I was very particular about the arrangements, aware of the order of service and the content of the eulogy.  However, your sincerity and kindness from our first contact and how you 'delivered' the service ensured that Flo had a fitting and a most dignified service.

James, you were more than, 'wonderful', 'superb', you were exceptional.  You have a passionate commitment to your work and spoke as if you actually knew Flo.  I have never listened to such a sincere eulogy'

Dear James,

We were all extremely pleased with the service you conducted for dad.  I felt that it was a lovely reminder of all the things he did with his life.  Obviously he was very special to all of us and your eulogy really captured his personality.

There were facts contained within the eulogy that the children didn’t know about and this has sparked some lovely conversations.  Because of social distancing we have yet to meet up properly, but when we do I’m sure these conversations will continue and again we will be able to appreciate just how lucky we have all been.

Hi James,

My sincere thanks for conducting such a lovely service for mum and all the family.  It was much appreciated and enjoyed (if that’s not a strange contradiction) by all who were present or saw the recording.  It was all exactly as we wanted...a celebration of a long life well lived.

Thank you for your patience in bearing with me in planning it all, as I kept producing more and more little anecdotes about mum, which you cleverly and seamlessly fitted into the eulogy.  Not an easy task but you managed to almost make it seem like you knew her and certainly understood her.

That generation of women who asked for and had very little and whose lives were often hard, but who met each obstacle with resilience and a smile.  She’s been a very good example during these last few months of lockdown.

Well you ‘did her proud’ James.  I think she would have enjoyed her send off.... she would probably have looked at me and said ‘trust you Susanne!’ Smiling and clapping her hands to the music.

Hi James,

Thank you so much for helping us say a final goodbye to dad on such a sad occasion, it is always difficult to see it as a celebration of life.  However, my dads service was absolutely perfect for both him and us as a family, thanks to you James.  It is so difficult to express in words the comfort I personally got from the service. 

The time and interest you took in preparing myself and my brother to ensure that the service was so personal to us all (despite current restrictions guiding us and all formalities having to be adhered to), allowed us to give dad the best “send off” I can honestly say I have ever attended!  And now life continues without our parents and we are to continue on our healing journey.
